Or buy more of it?<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fgv.br\/professor\/eduardo.andrade\/p12_LaranDaltonAndrade_JCR2010.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow\">Journal of Consumer Research<\/a> published an interesting study. The researchers set out to measure whether or not a logo could influence the behavior of customers. They also looked at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.logomaker.com\/blog\/2018\/12\/13\/how-to-design-a-logo-with-a-slogan\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(Opens a new window)\" rel=\"noopener\">effects of business ad slogans on customer behavior<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Logo design versus ad slogans<\/h2>\n<p>What they found was interesting: <a href=\"http:\/\/mindhacks.com\/2011\/08\/04\/slogans-trigger-resistance-while-logos-slip-through\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(Opens a new window)\" rel=\"noopener\">logos unconsciously trigger &#8220;brand compliant&#8221; behaviors<\/a>, while ad slogans appear to trigger resistance.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, people tend to ignore slogans because we understand they are sales messages. But for some reason, logos don&#8217;t have the same effect. It&#8217;s as if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.logomaker.com\/blog\/2014\/10\/01\/brain-sees-logo\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(Opens a new window)\" rel=\"noopener\">the brain &#8220;sees&#8221; a logo as neutral<\/a> and processes the branding message without resisting.<\/p>\n<p>So customers who were shown a Walmart logo before shopping spent less money in a shopping experiment while customers who were shown a Nordstrom logo spent more.<\/p>\n<p>Fascinating!<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/faculty.fuqua.duke.edu\/~gavan\/bio\/GJF_articles\/apple_ibm_jcr_08.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow\">similar study<\/a> published in 2008 showed that customers who were shown an Apple logo before being asked to do a brainstorming task, performed more creatively than customers who were shown a logo for IBM.<\/p>\n<h3>How your business logo subconsciously markets your brand<\/h3>\n<p>Logos can affect our behavior\u2014even though when we think we are immune to advertising.<\/p>\n<p>What does that mean for your logo?<\/p>\n<p>Over time, as you develop a consistent brand message, your customers may unconsciously respond to that message each time they interact with you. \u00a0The more positive the brand associations, the better for your business.<\/p>\n<p>Need a good logo?
